Dates

December 2021 - Present

In 2021, I became an active contributor to projects decentralizing technology development. Since then, I've worked on Operations, Community onboarding & engagement, Branding, Positioning and Fundraising.

I helped co-host the biggest hackathon in the Ethereum ecosystem and worked with impact DAOs to support people in combat zones of Ukraine with over $70k in grants.

Causes I care about: accelerating non-profit donations with blockchain, using distributed tech to improve democracies, and solving operational challenges of decentralized communities.

“Anna built out our Business Operations and Strategy. She is brilliant at getting to the core of problems, prioritizing resources, and measuring and optimizing the results. She also was a huge help to multiple startups we invested in and nailed their market positioning and fundraising pitches.

Blockchain for accelerating non-profit fundraising

Blockchain for accelerating non-profit fundraising

In 2022, I co-founded a non-profit effort to support people in active combat zones in Ukraine. We partnered with multiple impact DAOs. Unlike traditional NGOs, decentralized NGO models allowed donors to have an active say in funding allocations, required analysis of funding impact, and offered better accountability safeguards on NGO spending. One of our partners, PeaceDAO, involved a community of donors in discussing, voting on, and funding the highest-impact volunteer projects. Together, we fundraised over $70k for urgent initiatives in areas not supported by large international NGOs. Each funded effort had reporting obligations the community enforced, allowing for a highly transparent, corruption-resistant NGO model.

I got interested in DAO experiments in decentralizing governance models for technology production when studying Constitutional Law in 2021. At first, I believed that improving a DAO meant continuously optimizing for democratic variables like process validity, representation, and consensus in decision-making. Then, I saw my favorite projects fall apart and progress toward meaningful causes stalled by unnecessary complexity. I revised my talk from November of 2022 on "Lessons from Political Philosophy to DAO Governance" and began to advocate for projects to benchmark their operational success against mission-focused goals instead of process-focused ones like democratic governance. I still highly value experimentation with decentralized models for their promise of corruption & censorship resistance and the potential for more fair economic distributions. But I also believe we need to acknowledge the operational inefficiencies in DAOs. Let's work towards organizational models that could be truly competitive to centralized models of production and empower a new wave of technological progress.
